シンガポールに新しいEC2リージョンが出来たそうです。

EC2、S3に加え、RDSやCloudFrontなどフルセットそろったリージョンのようです。気合入ってますね。
ということで、早速インスタンスを起動して、レスポンス速度を計ってみました
インスタンス起動
起動は他のリージョンと同じで、AWS Management Consoleから行います。
Asian Pacific(Singapore)というのが追加されてますね。
ひとまずDebian+最小インスタンスで起動しました。起動方法は他のリージョンと変わりません。
Apacheインストール
カリフォルニアリージョンが出来たときのエントリと同じ条件で計るため、起動後に、Apache2をインストールしました。
Apache起動後、計測用に30Kbyteぐらいの画像を載せます。
計測
測定にはabを使用し、10クライアント100リクエストで測定しました。
回線はUSENです。

バージニアの倍以上、カリフォルニア比で５割増しぐらいの転送レートになっています。優秀ですね。
SFTP経由の大き目のファイルのアップロード/ダウンロードやターミナルでの操作などを行ってみましたが、体感でも速さを感じることが出来ました。
レイテンシについては、id:rx7さんがpingで計っておられますので、そちらを参考にすると良いと思います。

ちなみに、私のところでpingを実行すると、大体平均75msぐらいで返ってきます。
